The LPNE
Executive Committee:
-Smaller Government-
We believe government is responsible TO us, not FOR us. Our view of government is that of a necessary evil; one that must be kept in-check by an aware and informed public.
-Lower Taxes-
When a government taxes its citizens, it is essentially taking resources of one to give to another. We believe government is, by its nature, inefficient and spends our money with wanton abandon. We feel citizens should choose what to do with their money and their resources.
-More Freedom-
Our lives belong to us, not the state. Things such as mandatory service, warrantless searches, and intrusions on rights guaranteed by birth are not in keeping with the Constitution or common sense.

2010 ANALYSIS INDICATES 59 PERCENT OF RESPONDENTS BELIEVE IN LIBERTARIAN IDEALS
Fiscally Conservative and Socially Tolerant, or Libertarian, Views Held by Many
Omaha, NE January 26, 2010 A Policy Analysis released 21 January 2010 indicates that while a relatively low number of respondents describe themselves as Libertarians (around 15 percent of voters), a majority propose to adhere to the tenants of Libertarianism. When asked by Zogby, "Would you describe yourself as fiscally conservative and socially liberal? a significant majority, 59 percent, answered Yes.
When asked about the dramatic difference in self-described Libertarians and those that identify with the broad ideals of the Libertarian movement, newly-elected Nebraska Libertarian Party Vice-Chair Klaus Linder said, Its what we generally find when we talk to people. Once we describe what Libertarians stand for; smaller government, lower taxes, and more freedom, a large portion of those we talk to indicate they feel the same way. Linder went on, I think its probably a failing of ours in not getting our message out. One of the problems in getting that message out is the difficulties faced by third parties in our state and the country at large. Many states make it difficult, through the use of petition laws and minimum voter turnout requirements, for third parties to get their candidates on ballots, thus favoring the two largest parties.
Most folks we talk to believe, and it seems this analysis shows the same general feeling, the government is best if it is held to Constitutional limits and is required to stay out of peoples personal and business lives, Linder added.
Linder ended his comments by saying, Folks seem to be fed up with the status quo of the Democrats and Republicans. One party professes to believe in social tolerance but wants government to control everything and the other party professes to believe in fiscal responsibility while attempting to socially-engineer. Folks can hardly tell the two big boys apart anymore.
